Biomed Care Services also offer a FREE complimentary return medication collection service, alleviating all such responsibilities & costs incurred by the home. Whether you are residential or nursing, we take charge of it all via protocols & licensing put in place.

There are strict compliance requirements that have to be met with regards to medicinal waste. Intricate focus needs to be placed on ensuring waste is correctly segregated, appropriately labelled and packaged for transport, stored safely as well as described accurately on all documentation.

This practice can become very difficult and time consuming for the homes we serve especially considering the difficult job they already do to maintain the health and well being of residents. Hence why Biomed Care Services are committed to make life much easier by taking this responsibility and all associated costs away from the home so they can concentrate on the care service they provide.

SRCL

In order for us to deliver the perfect medicinal waste management service, choosing the right partner was crucial. This is why at Biomed Care Services we decided to collaborate with Stericycle (SRCL), a company that specialises in medicinal waste and works primarily within the healthcare sector.

SRCL have ensured we remain fully compliant and have always provided complete support with waste awareness training, site audits and keeping us up-to-date with the latest legislations.

This complex process starts from the collection of medicine from our homes and then organised at our facilities into the SRCL waste management system. They then collect from our premises, transport and treat: medicinal waste, prescription and controlled drugs, and cytotoxic and cytostatic waste.

Additionally, SRCL’s BioTrack system tracks the waste once it is collected from Biomed Care Service, so a full audit trail is present for all consignments.

Waste Carriers Licence

The above medicine return service would be non compliant without Biomed Care Services carrying a valid Environment Agency Waste Carriers Licence. Once medicine has been booked in to return, it effectively is classed as waste and as a result should not be transported by anyone without a valid Waste Carrier Licence (WCL).

The great news is, Biomed Care Services always hold a valid licence thus giving our homes peace of mind when it comes to compliance and regulation ensuring every process is executed through correct channels.
